Benefits of Drinking Cabbage Juice
There are many benefits drinking raw cabbage juice. I have been suffering from acid reflux and stomach ulcers for years. I have read on the internet that drinking cabbage juice can actually heal my stomach lining and help to eliminate ulcers. So I decided to find more information about cabbage juice, its ingredients and why it helps to heal. At the beginning, I was a skeptic that cabbage can help me get rid of my stomach problems. But I did some research and here is what I have discovered. Read my story at the end of this article.
Cabbage belongs to the cruciferous family and there are many varieties but most of us are used to buy red, green and Savoy cabbage.
Red cabbage contains more nutrients because of the red/purple pigments. But both of them are full of healthy vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, E, K and folate. Red and green cabbage are famous vegetables because they contain the most powerful antioxidants and can stimulate enzymes and activate our defense mechanism. The cabbage is very good for protecting us against many types of cancers. Eating cabbage can also help people to detox because contains thiocyanates, lutein, and other antioxidants. The cabbage is a good source of magnesium and calcium meaning that is good for our bones and good for osteoporosis. Potassium is an essential element that is good for heart, blood pressure and can lower bad cholesterol. This way our heart arteries clean, elastic and healthy.

Is Cabbage Juice good for Ulcers?
Because cabbage juice is rich with phytonutrient compounds it has been used as a natural remedy for treating ulcers. According to the Anne Louise Gittleman cabbage juice can help restore your stomach lining and can help regenerate stomach mucous. Studies showed that cabbage antioxidant powers are good for patients that suffer from a bacterial infection such as Helicobacter Pylori. There are studies that provide some promising results. Drinking cabbage juice for 14 days helped 90% of the patients to cure their ulcers and stomach inflammation naturally. Patients diagnosed with Helicobacter Pylori have more chances of getting peptic ulcers than people with acid relux. There are other studies showing that people that eat cabbage regularly will minimize the risk of getting colon cancer. The phytonutrient content of the cabbage is extremely important for prevention of cancer cells. Another study showed that cabbage is also good for maintaining healthy stomach pH levels.
Cabbage juice micro greens for ‘bad’ cholesterol!
According to one report that appeared on ACS American Chemical Society, cabbage is very good for losing weight and for preventing cardiovascular diseases. According to the report Thomas T.Y. Wang and colleagues tested animals to see if microgreens found in the cabbages can clean the liver cholesterol. The study showed that cabbage eliminates bad LDL and liver triglyceride cholesterol. Another 12-week study in Japan showed that when a group of adults with increased level of bad cholesterol introduces broccoli and cabbage their cholesterol levels dropped. The blood test showed that entire group significantly reduced lipoprotein, or so-called bad cholesterol.
Cabbage juice for inflammation!
Cabbage contains anthocyanins and significant amount polyphenols, they are very important flavonoids that regulate our inflammatory system. When we don’t insert anti-inflammatory nutrients we are at risk developing chronic inflammation. This is the reason why cabbage is very good for fighting against inflammation.
Cabbage juice as a natural remedy for Cancer prevention!
Cabbage is rich in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents but it also contains glucosinolates. The glucosinolates found in cabbage are essential for cancer prevention. Cabbage can prevent cancers like bladder cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, and prostate cancer.
After researching and reading about cabbage I decided that is time to take action and heal my stomach. So I cleaned my old juicer and started juicing. I’m saying old juicer because believe me cabbage will pretty much destroy your juicer and the smell will go inside the plastic and you can feel it every time you juice. Remember you have to clean the juicer after each use. But how much should I drink from the cabbage juice? In some of the case studies people were drinking 4 cups/1 litre per day, but that was too much for me, so I decided to go with 2 cups per day. And I started drinking cabbage juice every day before breakfast on empty stomach and before I go to bed. What I found out that drinking cabbage juice is not something pleasant and tasty. I was on the edge every time but somehow I managed to continue for 12 days. Also, I have noticed that mixing green and red cabbage is the most effective for me. Another important clue is that not every cabbage juice will be the same. Sometimes I had a problem drinking the juice because it was burning my throat something similar to a ginger burn. But you have to stay strong and you will notice an improvement after 2-3 days. Another thing is that you can drink licorice tea and take DGL licorice tablets or slippery elm powder. Cabbage and licorice are very good for maintaining your acidity so ulcers can heal much faster. But if you don’t want to take any supplements than you can stay on the cabbage juice.
